He Likes Not Those Who                     Commit Excess

Wooden installation
140 X 220 CM

A wooden barcode-style installation is a reminder that we, as a nation and as a society, are moving towards excessive mass consumption in both material and style. The barcode has gradually become an essential part of modern civilization and a part of the global export system. The barcode symbol represents the commercial code for everything (and is indispensable…).

The verse was written using geometric Kufic script, which relies on longitudinal and latitudinal lines, but with the addition of horizontal lines to achieve the shape of a barcode. We usually see this shape very small. Here, I tried to make this symbol very large to draw attention to this small aspect of our lives, yet our lives depend on it. The artwork was created from wood, a symbol of nature, to represent this contradiction between consumption and the power of nature, which can atrophy without warning when we continue with this consumption.
